Error: Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: Stat failed for /home/username/public_html/media/install_45a24b29b5ece/mod_jw_ajaxhr (errno=13 - Permission denied) in /home/username/public_html/administrator/includes/pcl/pclzip.lib.php on line 4287

There is a bug in Joomla script coding causing this error. We donot support 3rd party scripts and such issues should be taken up with the script author only. Upgrading to Semi-dedicated / Load-balanced hosting will-not resolve this issue as it is not server related or PHP security configurations remain same across servers!

However, to fix the trouble, please enable the system() function on the server temporary, so that Joomla can set correct permissions on its folders. You don't need to open a support a support ticket each time you face this issue, you can just enable system() function by creating a php.ini file in your Joomla folder and adding the following line to it:

disable_functions=

Once you install the first component/module/template, you can delete/rename the php.ini file from your directory to prevent any security issue. Please proceed with this fix at your own risk, knowing the impact of reduced PHP security. Here is a Tutorial to create a custom php.ini.

Alternatively, please use the following method to install Joomla components,
(1) Download the component
(2) Unzip files on local computer
(3) Upload files files to server via FTP
(4) Login into Joomla admin and click on installer
(5) At the install directory point it to the xml file and click install. Eg. ../public_html/administrator/components/com_installer/component/folder/abc.xml
