Outlook error (0x80042109) while sending messages

Error Message

Sending reported error 0x80042109 Outlook cannot connect to your outgoing SMTP email



Solution


This error is caused by either

  1. SMTP Server not specified correctly - Please check you mail server name specified in the email client's settings
  2. SMTP port 25 being blocked by ISP - In Outlook (email client), in Settings change SMTP port
    from 25 to alternate port 26 or TLS port 587

  3. Your IP address being blocked on server's firewall - Please login to customerportal and unblock your public IP address
Should the error still persist, you can contact technical support and provide Teamviewer QuickSupport (free download from http://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/windows.aspx ) access to your PC for further investigation.
